The whole purpose of getting a Fitbit goes to waste if its out of battery the time you need it to record your stats, or pretty much any time of the day. We all wish fitness trackers came with never-ending battery life but until that wishful thinking comes true, we have come up with a few tips and tricks to help you prolong your Fitbit battery life. Its no rocket science, all you need is to understand one basic thing: The lesser the items on the screen, the longer the battery will last, since every feature turned on consumes battery and decreases the average running time. However, you can always follow these tips to extend battery life.
1. Tap it Less Often
We, specially kids, just can’t resist the urge to tap continuously to check your progress, but thats what drains your Fitbit battery the most. The longer the screen stays untapped, the more you save its battery. Checking your stats over and over again, tapping to check time all cause the device to go through your overall statistics which consumes battery life and is responsible for quick battery drainage.
2. Deactivate All-Day Sync
Instead of keeping All-day Sync on throughout the day, you can always synchronise your phone with other devices every once in a while. This will prevent your device from transferring data to other devices thus preserving battery throughout the day. For this you also need to ensure that Always Connected is turned off as well. While All Day Sync is for all devices, Always Connected is confined to Android devices only. You can always sync through the Fitbit App which won’t require All Day Sync to stay active all day.
3. Set Few Alarms and Notifications
You need to remember that every alarm and every notification adds to the depletion of battery life. You don’t need to set alarms for every available option. Just set the important ones and you’re good to go. Moreover, your device notifies you for every notification turned on, you need to manage your priorities here. You can always be notified on your phone and add battery life to your Fitbit. However, if you believe your mobile phone is not always as approachable, you will have to compromise on the Fitbit battery life.
4. Check Temperature when Charging
This may seem a little out of the ordinary, but charging in extremely hot or cold temperature affects your battery timing negatively. This has been confirmed by the Fitbit Official Help Page. So be careful about the temperature, while charging, to prolong battery life.
5.Turn off Swim Detection Feature
Its so cool to have a feature that automatically detects when you’re exercising or swimming. However, you might not be able to make most of that because of the battery time drawback. If you’re not going for a swim anytime soon, you need to disable this feature for time-being to make your battery last longer.
Fitbit comes with several exciting features but you need to know how to use the battery smartly in order to make the most out of it. If you have any more suggestions and tips, let us know in the comments below.
